The snow has finally disappeared leaving the town centre resembling the Costa del Burnley due to all the sand spread on the icy paths by the Council.
I seem to be one of the few who think that Burnley Council did a good job in clearing the main roads and I was able to continue with my survey work, although things do tend to be quieter anyway, at this time of year.
One job, however, involved abandoning my car and having to walk approximately ½ mile through the deep snow, in order to check an empty house. To my surprise the “empty house” was occupied by a rather distressed cat which I was able to feed, before I left.
My subsequent enquiries of the solicitor confirmed that the cat did not belong to the vendors having presumably used the unlocked cat flap to gain entry, and would I please ensure that the cat was removed.
Having trudged through the snow for the second day my sympathy for the cat quickly evaporated when I discovered it had invited one of its friends round to the warm empty house where food was freely supplied by a strange snow covered visitor.
So …… cat flap secured – food outside – cats banished – vacant possession obtained and back again through the snow to my car.
Is this really why I trained to be a Chartered Surveyor?
